I found Alice difficult to find in my family history search until I discovered she had married for a second time aged 52 years.
There are some joining the dots but I believe this is her grave and the information below is to the best of my knowledge correct.
Alice's parents as per her first marriage certificate are Robert Thornbury, whitesmith & Ann Hewitt
Alice's first marriage was to George Allen in 1854
George died at aged 36 years in June 1870 and is buried in Melbourne General Cemetery with his parents George Allen, died August 1870 and Ruth Allen (nee Redmond), died 1885.
I believe Alice remarried Ernest Edward Berger in 1884
Alice's Parent's names according to this certificate are Robert Thornbury, whitesmith and Ann Hewitt which both match the first.
Both the Bride and Groom are listed as widower (1852) & widow (1870)
Alice's death certificate in 1888 does not mention her first marriage or children from that marraige. Her father is listed as Robert Thornby and her mother as Alice Thornby, maiden name unknown. Close but not exact. Ernest and Alice had only been married for just over four years. I do not know why her husband who was the informant didn't mention her past
Alice's second husband Ernest died in 1909 and is also buried at Melbourne General Cemetery. Ernest is buried with Bridget Berger, died 1883 and his son Julius Berger, died 1917.
Ernest's death certificate only mentions his first marriage and the children from the first marriage. The informant is an authorized agent rather than a family member. Ernest was suffering from senile decay and cardiac failure and may well have been in no state to give information on admission to hospital. I don't not know why his second marriage was not mentioned by his family. He dies after Alice so she would not have been considered N.O.K by hospital but his two sons were alive.
Box Hill Cemetery has a good deceased search on their web site. The result will give you a map that will lead you to the grave site.
