Shirley died as the result of injuries received when she fell from her bicycle (accident) in Bay Street, Brighton. The road was wet and Shirley was travelling downhill. She was thrown off her bicycle skidded while possibly crossing the tram tracks, and threw her off her bike. She struck her head on the roadway and was carried to a local shop where she regained consciousness and was taken home where she deteriorated and was taken to hospital where she died later that same day. She was only 15 years old. Information gained from the inquest reference number 1346
Shirley's death certificate says she was a florist.
